FAQ

What will I get for my money?

You will receive a detailed character sheet, a diary which will be a constant companion and guide for you in your game, and all relevant information and materials. You will also get care from the organizers, food for the entire event, accommodation (albeit with limited comfort levels), transport from Prague, and all game-relevant costume, props, weapons, and ammunition. You will also get several hours of workshops that will teach you all you need to know.

What will I not get for my money?

A professional service. Rolling is an organisation run in a non-profit manner, and all our larps are organised by volunteers. We strive to ensure a good experience for every participant, but we view larps as a participatory, community activity. At Legion, we expect all participants to proactively take part in taking care the safety, comfort, and good game experience of themselves and their co-players. If something goes wrong, let us know; if you can help with something, consider offering help; if something is delayed, please extend us some grace.

CAN WOMEN PLAY SOLDIERS?

Anybody can play any character regardless of gender. There are roles of female soldiers in the game, but they are not common - you cannot expect you will be sure to get one.

I don't know anything about this historical setting; is the game for me?

If you are interested in topics such as "war", "love", "freedom" or "humanity", then yes. You will get the necessary basic overview from our pre-game materials and in a short summarizing workshop on site. The game is not historical reenactment.

I DON'T ENJOY CRAWLING THROUGH MUD AND SOLDIERING; IS THE GAME FOR ME?

The game is not a military simulation; the war experience is a means, not an end. If you particularly hate mud and fighting, you can always play some of the civilians, of which there are plenty and whose game is just as interesting (doctor, nurses, POWs...). However, if you find the thought of being in a military unit unpleasant in itself, it is probably not the right game for you.

SHOULD I EXPECT STARVATION OR SLEEPING IN THE FREEZING COLD AND SNOW?

No. Although starvation is a theme in the game, we will feed you and you will be allowed to bring any snacks you want. A logistical issue with food may happen, so the snacks are recommended, but we don’t want you to go hungry. You will also not be in danger of sleeping without a roof above your head or freezing. And if the situation unexpectedly gets worse and you, for example, become sick, we will be keeping an eye on you all the time and we can solve your problems.
